Jason Kelce Says Wife Kylie Requires Him to Work Out 3 Days a Week ‘Otherwise She Doesn’t Want to Deal’ with His Mood
Jason said after getting a workout in he’s “a better person”
Jason Kelce is revealing the rule that his wife Kylie Kelce requires him to follow to keep everyone in their household happy!
During an appearance on Green Light with Chris Long released on Friday, Aug. 9th, the former football center for the Philadelphia Eagles 36, revealed that his wife, 32, recently implemented a rule that he has to work out “a minimum of three days a week, otherwise she doesn’t want to deal with me.”
Green Light co-hosts Long 39, and Beau Allen then began talking with Jason and the other podcast guest, fellow retired NFL star Brent Celek, about why exercise is important for former NFL stars.
Long — who retired in 2019 after playing 11 years in the league — empathized with his former Eagle teammate, saying that part of the reason retired football players “struggle” when they leave the game is that they’re “accustomed to a certain amount of physical activity.”
The podcaster explained that exercising impacts “dopamine” and “how you wake up in the morning.”
Jason, a father of three, agreed. “When I’ve worked out, I am in a great mood. I interact well with my kids and everybody….just I’m a better person,” he said.
By contrast, he said if he has to skip a workout he feels like he’s “not really being productive for the day…like you’re missing something.”
Although the athlete still needs to get a workout in for his mental and physical health, he explained in a PEOPLE exclusive interview in June why he knew that it was time to retire after the 2023-2024 NFL season after considering retirement for the last four years and deciding against it.
“And after stepping away this year, it just was more and more evident after the season that my body is telling me to stop,” he said. “I don’t think I could play another season at the way I want to and the way that’s going to make me happy.”
As for what’s next for Jason and Kylie’s family, the couple — who married in 2018 — have both hinted at the possibility of having a fourth child together.
“It’s not my decision,” Jason exclusively told PEOPLE in July. “We’ve talked about, before having kids, having certain numbers but I think whatever Kylie’s comfortable with.”
In an interview with the New York Magazine website The Strategist, Kylie, a former field hockey player, touched on the possibility.
“We’re rotating through clothes we bought for our first daughter now to our youngest, so we have gone through a lot of hand-me-downs,” she said. “The Hanna Anderson PJs last forever. We still have some packed up, just in case there ends up being a fourth.”
The couple currently shares daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 16 months.
