‘We can only begin to imagine what an immense hole he will leave in your life’: Prince William and Kate Middleton pen a deeply personal letter to a widow after father-of-two dies of cancer
The Prince of Wales wrote the poignant note to a widow, saying how much he and Catherine ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ meeting the late Pete Morris
Kate Middleton and Prince William have penned a moving letter to a widow after her husband died of cancer.
Father-of-two Pete Morris, 47, died from cancer in May, weeks after the Princess of Wales revealed her own diagnosis to the world in a moving video message which stunned the world.
The Prince and Princess of Wales had met Pete during a royal visit to South Wales last year, buying £127.50 on 12 pizzas from him for local mountain rescue workers. Tragically, months later, doctors found he had cancer in his adrenal gland and liver and he passed away in the spring.
Ahead of his funeral, the couple wrote a letter to his widow Tracey which was read out during the service. In the letter, William wrote, ‘I wanted to write to express how terribly sorry Catherine and I were to hear the very sad news about your husband Pete, and to send you our deepest sympathies. We can only begin to imagine what an immense hole he will leave in your life and my heart goes out to you and your family.
