Travis Kelce pinpoints Patrick Mahomes’ telepathic signal that saved behind the back pass from failure
The play captured league-wide attention

When you have with another person the kind of chemistry that Travis Kelce shares with Patrick Mahomes, even your mistakes can turn into works of art.

Kelce and Mahomes are statistically the most dangerous tight end-quarterback duo in NFL playoff history. They have won three Super Bowls together since 2019 and are going for a fourth in 2024. The two also provided the highlight of the NFL preseason: a behind-the-back pass from Mahomes to Kelce for a first down in a home loss to the Detroit Lions a week and a half ago

Travis “surrenders” to Mahomes: He makes you right
Thank you for watching

On the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Travis dove into the viral play with his brother Jason (who called the play “magic”). Travis admitted that he “wasn’t in tune” with the game plan, and that was his mistake: Mahomes snapped the ball, and the 34-year-old didn’t know what to do.

“And that’s why we love playing with Pat Mahomes, ladies and gentlemen,” Travis said. “Because even when you f*** up, he makes you right.”

Thanks to their longstanding connection, Travis at least knew when Mahomes was going to roll out of the pocket and try to get rid of the football. Fortunately, he made the grab just in time to complete the highlight-reel play.

“When I turned around, he was like in mid behind-the-back pass like a sports card. It was just like slow motion, and the ball was just floating to me,” Travis said. “Sure enough, I knew it was third and short, so I just made sure that I got the sticks there.”
