Terrorist attack foiled at Taylor Swift tour: How did the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce react?

The 34-year-old football star was reportedly “very concerned” for his girlfriend’s safety

Fans were stunned to find out Taylor Swift had to cancel her Eras Tour in Vienna, Austria after a terrorist plot was foiled by local law enforcement, leaving her Kansas City Chiefs’ boyfriend, Travis Kelce, worrying for her safety whilst stranded 5,200 miles away.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of planning to conduct a terrorist attack after being inspired by the Islamic State, commonly known as ISIS/ISIL/Daesh, who historically operated in Syria and Iraq and have claimed responsibility for numerous attacks in Europe.

Swift, due to perform at the Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, subsequently cancelled all events, and disappointed fans will be refunded in the following 10 working days.

Austria’s General Director for Public Security, Franz Ruf, confirmed a 19-year-old Austrian citizen had been arrested on August 7, before another teenager was arrested later in the same day, aged 17.

An insider revealed to PageSix.com that the 34-year-old tight end is “very concerned” and contacted the pop star immediately, but currently doesn’t have plans to fly out to see her due to NFL commitments.

Kelce is currently in training camp ahead of the 2024/25 NFL season, which kicks off against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5 at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

What do we know about the attack?

It’s thought they planned to drive a car wired with explosives into the crowd at the stadium, which was expected to be around a capacity 65,000 people, after being hired to work as security within the venue.

They allegedly also planned to use machetes and more improvised explosive devices within the stadium in an attempt to kill as many attendees as possible.
