Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift skip 2024 ESPY Awards as Prince Harry wins honour

Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce missed out on the 2024 ESPY Awards as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines for their presence at the star-studded event in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Swift – who’s the NFL’s most famous fan – skipped the event, where her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs were nominated for Best Team.

Neither Swift nor Kelce attended the biggest night in sports. However, the couple were the topic of host Serena Williams‘ monologue.

The 42-year-old tennis legend joked that Swift’s boyfriend went on to win a Super Bowl with teammate Patrick Mahomes.

She also teased that Kelce and the singer spent “$100,000 a day on their romance” which was the same amount Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown needs for his beard.

The pop superstar is in the midst of the European leg of her Eras Tour. After wrapping a two-show stint in Zürich on Wednesday, July 10, she will next perform two concerts in Milan on Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14.

However, some of social media users and the couple’s fans believe that Swift and Kelce, who recently enjoyed moments wit Prince William and his kids during the singer’s London leg of Eras Tour, skipped the event because of Harry and Meghan, who got the spotlight for the Duke’s Award for his Invictus Games initiative.

The megastar, who counts royalty among her long list of fans, seemingly moved the Sussexes to tears with her surprising move during her Eras Tour stop in London as she showed her bond with William and the royal family during her concert at Wembley Stadium on Friday.

The Cruel Summer hitmaker even shared her delightful selfie with royals after the show to confirm her sweet bond with the them, seemingly sending a message to Meghan with her action.

Meghan, per WSJ, penned Taylor Swift a personal “handwritten” note asking her to be a guest on the show, and the singer reportedly didn’t respond herself, and, instead, had a representative say “No” on her behalf.

Swift and Kelce have ramped up their public displays of affection in recent weeks as he has joined her for several shows in Europe.
