Taylor Swift Jokes Her Parents Were Recording Ovation on Their Phones During Latest Wembley Show
Taylor Swift is having fun at her parents’ expense while in London!
On Friday, Aug. 16, the 34-year-old superstar thanked the crowd at Wembley Stadium for a heartfelt ovation and included a funny dig at her parents in the process.
“I guarantee my parents were just recording that on their phones,” she said in a video recorded by a fan on X (formerly Twitter). “So anytime I’m having a sad or a bad day, not only will I play the video in my mind, but I’m gonna revisit that moment a lot – thank you so much for doing that.”
The “Soon You’ll Get Better” singer’s mom Andrea was also with her daughter during the June 2024 Wembley run of the Eras Tour, when a fan caught her reacting to lyrics that reference her on Swift’s Tortured Poets Department track “thanK you aiMee.”
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman,” Swift sang on stage as a camera panned to Andrea waving to the crowd around her, who cheered as the lyrics were sung.
Friday show’s marks Swift’s second since canceling three shows in Vienna, Austria, last week following the discovery of an alleged terror plot targeting concerts in the country. The singer has not yet issued a statement addressing the planned attack, but she was spotted out in London with her tour crew Monday night in her first public appearance since news of the threat surfaced.
Swift’s canceled Austria shows would’ve marked the first time she ever performed in the European country, as she skipped it on her first five international tours.
The pop star’s second round of London shows comes months after she concluded her first action-packed run at Wembley Stadium in June — which saw her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, make his Eras Tour debut onstage and a special backstage visit from Prince William and his two eldest children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9.
