Swifties Declare Young Fan Got Travis Kelce’s ‘Version of the 22 Hat’ After Sweet Gesture at Chiefs Practice
The NFL star noticed the young Swiftie cheering him on at a Chiefs training camp practice.
A young Taylor Swift fan received a special surprise gift from Travis Kelce while attending a Kansas City Chiefs training camp practice on Friday, July 26.
The young Swiftie wore a red shirt featuring the message, “In my red era.” While the shirt’s bright color was a nod to the team’s own color theme, the wording splashed across the front was a reference to Swift’s 2012 album Red.
In a video the young fan’s aunt shared on X, formerly Twitter, people watching Friday’s practice yelled the tight end’s name as he walked over to interact with onlookers during a brief break. Appearing to notice the Swiftie in the crowd, he peeled off his gloves and tossed them in her direction.
Photos on X showed the girl holding up the yellow gloves, decorated with Kelce’s number, 87. After a Swift fan account shared the photos and videos on X, the girl’s aunt explained that they plan to see the “Cruel Summer” singer perform this fall when her hit international Eras Tour returns to the U.S. Her niece now intends to wear the gloves to the show.
Fans gushed over the NFL star’s sweet gesture on social media, with one writing that Swift’s boyfriend is “truly the best!!!”
“The love he shows to these little ones and then on top of that seeing it was tays shirt and being very specific to give it to her,” the fan tweeted, adding, “he’s always thinking of her and giving her fans the best treatment too!”
“Oh my goodness, this is so sweet!” one person wrote, while another agreed it was “so cute and special!”
One person also suggested that the glove toss was Kelce’s “version of the 22 hat.” The “Fortnight” songstress has made it a habit to gift one young fan at every show the black hat she wears during her performance of her hit song “22.” The tradition has led to many adorable and memorable moments as she takes her tour from country to country.
