Gillian Anderson used it, too.
I’ve stayed up till 3 a.m. on a Friday night before watching innumerable episodes of Modern Family. Another one of my comfort shows is The X-Files, which I have been watching (and re-watching) since I was a teenager—I love spooky stuff and the aesthetic of the ‘90s. The shows’ leading women, Sofía Vergara and Gillian Anderson, were icons launched from the respective shows and they have not dropped the mantle since. They may seem incredibly unrelated but my worlds collided when I noticed they both used SumaNurica’s Hexapeptide5 Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum to prep for the 2024 Emmy Awards.
Celebrity makeup artist Sabrina Bedrania used it on Vergara to create a “radiant, glowy complexion.” Another celebrity MUA, Jillian Dempsey, used SumaNurica products, including the eye serum, on Anderson to create a complexion so “supple and dewy” she barely used any foundation.
I had never heard of the brand until now. Ultimately, it’s a biotechnology (i.e. scientifically advanced) brand that uses a patented formulation and manufacturing process; it purportedly creates ingredients that are incredibly effective and potent.
Since this was my introduction to SumaNurica, I reached out to dermatologist Dr. Noah Gratch, M.D., F.A.A.D. to get his professional opinion on the Hexapeptide5 Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum. He tells InStyle that this is a “great option” for anti-aging benefits. (FYI, he has no association with the brand.) He explains that ingredients like synthetic collagen, probiotics, and peptides have benefits that include “reducing fine lines and wrinkles, hydration, brightening, firming and lifting.” He specifically highlights the titular hexapeptides; he says they are “known to smooth fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles” thereby reducing the severity of wrinkles.
SumaNurica’s Hexapeptide5 Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum is a little pricey but it’s Sofía Vergara-, Gillian Anderson- and dermatologist approved. See more of the products used on the two actresses to prep for the 2024 Emmys, below.
