Sofía Vergara looked as stunning as ever when she made a grand entrance at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.

Vergara is nominated this year for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for her lead role in Netflix’s miniseries Griselda, in which she played the Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco Restrepo.

The Emmys are set to honor the best of television at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Sofía’s off-the-shoulder dress design highlighted her toned arms, and the dress’ bust and torso were covered in delicate, tight ruching.

The look included a long scarlet skirt that reached the ground and trailed behind Sofía slightly.

The television star — who previously revealed that she is a natural blond — wore her caramel-colored brunette locks in gorgeous, lustrous waves cascading down her shoulders.

Vergara is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie category for portraying the real-life drug lord Griselda Blanco Restrepo in Netflix’s miniseries Griselda.

The role required her to wear extensive facial prosthetics, though she still looked considerably closer to her usual self than to the real-life Griselda.

She is competing against a stacked lineup of actresses, including Jodie Foster for True Detective, Brie Larson for Lessons in Chemistry, Juno Temple for Fargo and Naomi Watts for Feud.

According to Deadline, the nomination makes her the first Latina born in a Latin country — Colombia — to be nominated in the Lead Actress in a Limited Series category.

In a statement released after her nomination was announced, Vergara gushed: ‘Wow. Griselda was my first dramatic role ever, and it took us 15 years to bring her to life.

‘I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who was a part of this series. I could have never done this without my director Andres Baiz, my costar Alberto Guerra, Eric Newman, and the full creative team, my partner and producer Luis Balaguer, Ted Sarandos, Bela Bajaria, and their team at Netflix, and all the amazing cast and crew,’ she continued. ‘I never dreamed that after Modern Family I would be able to work on something as special as Griselda.

‘I’m honored to be recognized alongside Jodie, Brie, Juno, and Naomi, incredible women who gave us incredible TV this year,’ Vergara concluded. ‘Thank you to the Television Academy for this incredible honor!’

The ceremony is hosted by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who are making history as the first father–son duo to emcee the program.

In 2020, the actors took home their own respective Emmy Awards for their work on their hit series, Schitt’s Creek, which they created and starred in for six seasons.

‘For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,’ they said in a statement to Vanity Fair, last month, while confirming their hosting gig.

The pair continued: ‘We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.’

The Bear set a new record for nominations in a single year in the Comedy category with 23 (previously held by 30 Rock with 22 nominations in 2009), while Shōgun leads this year’s Drama category with 25 nominations.

The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Jennifer Aniston, Selena Gomez, Jon Hamm and Quinta Brunson are among the nominees that are vying for some the evening’s top prizes.

This marks Gomez’s first nomination in the lead actress category for her role as Mabel Mora in Only Murders In The Building.

Following the news, she told her followers that she felt ‘honored and insanely grateful’ for the recognition.
