“So happy for my girl”- Coco Gauff and Sloane Stephens in awe as compatriot Gabby Thomas wins 200m gold at Paris Olympics 2024

WTA stars Coco Gauff and Sloane Stephens have applauded their compatriot Gabby Thomas, who won the gold medal in the women’s 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is the third time Thomas has earned a podium finish at the Olympic Games, having previously secured silver in the 4x100m relay and bronze in the 200m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Following the women’s 200m, Gauff shared a picture on her Instagram story featuring Thomas, 27 and her triumph. Gauff, excited about Thomas’ achievement, captioned the post with:
“yesss so happy for my girl”

Thomas then made an Instagram post on Wednesday, August 7, celebrating her achievement, and a few hours later, WTA stars Coco Gauff and Sloane Stephens also expressed their admiration.

“Yess!!! Go gabby!!!” – Sloan Stephens said, while Coco Gauff commented, “So proud.”

Gauff made her Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics, representing the United States in women’s singles, where she was eliminated in the third round. She also partnered with Jessica Pegula in doubles, but the duo was knocked out in the second round. In mixed doubles, Gauff teamed up with Taylor Fritz and reached the quarterfinals.

Stephens, on the other hand, has represented the United States at the Olympics once, in 2016, where she exited in the first round at the hands of Eugenie Bouchard.
