Royal family to ‘ignore’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, focus on ‘next…see more
King Charles and Queen Camilla have spent their summer at Balmoral discussing the future of the British monarchy, according to a report.
The King, 75, reportedly hosted a gathering at the royal family’s Scottish residence earlier this month during which he outlined Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s future association with the royals, the Express reports.
According to palace sources, the Firm has decided to shift its focus on the next generation of royals until 2030.
“The strategy now is to move away from focusing on what the Sussexes are doing and place an emphasis on the next generation of royals,” a source told the outlet.
“There is very much a feeling of not dwelling on the past but moving forward with the assets they’ve got which are the younger members of the royal family.”
“King Charles is very aware that the younger generation is the future of the monarchy and his focus is to ensure that its legacy remains once he has gone — and that can be secured in the Wales era,” the insider added.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, her daughter Zara Tindall, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are all currently at Balmoral where talks are taking place.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were notably snubbed from the royal reunion this summer.
Sources add that while Charles will be looking at the line of succession, he will also consider creating unofficial roles for the likes of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as Lady Louise Windsor and her brother James Wessex , as well as the Tindall children.
“The future of the Royal Family doesn’t just hinge on the Wales family,” a source continued. “But also on other members of the Royal Family that hold a visible profile in this country and around the world.”
