Queen Camilla tries to hide her leg with a bandage after painful injury
Survived ankle’s sprain
During the second day of their tour of the Channel Islands, King Charles and Queen Camilla traveled to Guernsey, where they were welcomed at St Peter Port. Camilla’s right ankle was visibly bandaged, an injury she sustained from an ankle sprain the day before while in Jersey.
The bandage was noticeable as King Charles led a brief special sitting of the States of Deliberation, Guernsey’s Parliament. This session was followed by a traditional Ceremony of Homage, which occurs during a monarch’s first visit to Guernsey.
The event
The couple received a warm reception upon their arrival in Guernsey. Camilla donned a blue silk crepe dress and coat by Fiona Clare. As their helicopter touched down, the royal standard was raised, church bells rang, and a 21-gun salute was fired at Castle Cornet.
The special session of the States of Deliberation, a tradition for a monarch’s inaugural visit to Guernsey, marked the first such event since Queen Elizabeth II’s visit in 1957.
In his address, King Charles shared fond memories of visiting the island in 2012 for his late mother’s Diamond Jubilee. After the ceremony, the royal couple engaged with local school children and greeted the public.
Among those they met was Barrie Ainsworth, who turned 80 that day and received personal birthday wishes from the King.
