Prince William’s firm stance on relationship with Prince Harry: His broken childhood made him tough and resolute
Their relationship deteriorated after the release of Harry’s memoir
Prince William has reportedly taken a firm and decisive stance on his relationship with his brother, Prince Harry. The Prince of Wales, 42, reportedly has not spoken to his younger brother for over a year.
Their relationship further deteriorated after the release of Harry’s memoir “Spare” in January 2023, which contained numerous revelations about the British Royal Family.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond indicated that William, as the heir to the throne, has made a clear decision about his future relationship with Harry. Bond suggested that since the death of their grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, William has taken on the role of the “enforcer” within the royal family.
“William has always been a strong character,” Bond told OK! Magazine.
“I think his broken childhood made him tough and resolute. He now has the reputation of being stubborn and, once his mind is made up, he sticks to his decision.
“He is definitely someone who commands respect within the family and whose views hold considerable sway.
“Obviously, as heir to the throne, his word carries a lot of weight in the family and I think it’s true that he has been prepared to take a tough stand on a number of issues, including [Princes] Andrew and Harry.”
Confirmed claim
This perspective is supported by royal expert Hilary Fordwich, who told Fox News that William has effectively “banned” Harry from returning to the royal fold, reflecting the depth of the rift between the brothers.
“It is widely known within the family that Prince William has laid down an absolute ban on Harry returning in any way, shape or form into his former royal family fold,” she said.
“If anyone will relent, it would be King Charles, whom, of course, Prince William won’t challenge, who still misses his ‘darling boy’ and would like to see more of Prince Harry.
“However, to this day, after the release of ‘Spare’ and the Netflix serial, as well as with everything else Harry has said, done, and not done, it’s Prince William who adamantly refuses to even speak to his brother.”
