The Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes has stunned fans by calling Travis Kelce a bad influence as he said he had to limit the time he spent with the tight end through the NFL offseason, but why?
The pair have struck up quite the relationship through their time at the Arrowhead Stadium, yielding three Super Bowl winners rings as they’ve both come to be regarded as two of the very best ever in their positions.
Yet Mahomes joked that the 34-year-old boyfriend of Taylor Swift actually puts him off his A-Game and thus, he has to keep a healthy distance from his football friend and colleague, especially after playing golf.
“I’m going to stay away from Travis,” Mahomes told SiriusXM NFL Radio of them playing golf. “He gets me off my game.
“Gets me off my game. He’s a bad influence. By Day Three I’m just like, ‘I can’t be with him for more than two days.'”

After defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022 and the San Francisco 49ers, Patrick Mahomes is now faced with a chance to accomplish something not even the legendary Tom Brady could ever do: Become the first quarterback to win three Super Bowls straight.
It’s straight into the fire for the Chiefs too, as they welcome the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 on opening night, in a rematch of the AFC Conference Championship game during which Mahomes won 17-10.
So how does he feel about the pressure of the upcoming season alongside Kelce, Hollywood Brown and Coach Andy Reid? Does he feel like they can go all the way to make record-breaking history?
“It wasn’t like we talked about it openly,” Mahomes added. “I mean right after the Super Bowl you saw that we were saying like, ‘We gotta go do it’.
“But since we’ve gotten back, it’s just football. We know what the process is, the day-by-day process of just getting better. Guys want to be great, and I think that’s the best thing about it.”
