American Coco Gauff, the top seed at the tournament, beat Chinese qualifier Yafan Wang 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the WTA National Bank Open at the Aviva Centre on Thursday afternoon
Gauff, ranked No 2, will play Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 14 seed, next.
In the previous round, Wang, ranked No 72, won against American Sofia Kenin (7-5, 7-6 (3)).
