Madonna’s Grammy-Winning Album Returns As Another One Of Her Bestsellers Falls

Last week in the United Kingdom, Madonna placed two albums on the charts. Her collections landed on different tallies, and each one only appeared on one list. This time around, the pop icon fills just as many spaces, and on just as many tallies, but she sends one project to a ranking she hasn’t appeared on lately, while one of her most recent wins disappears.

Confessions on a Dance Floor is back on the U.K.’s Official Dance Albums chart this week. The full-length, which won the Best Dance/Electronic Album Grammy more than a decade ago, reappears on the ranking of the bestselling titles in that genre at No. 39. It barely makes it to the roster, as the tally only features 40 spaces.

So far, Confessions on a Dance Floor marks Madonna’s sole No. 1 on the Official Dance Albums chart. She’s only managed to send four releases to the list, as much of her output has been classified as pop or R&B, instead of specifically dance. Three of those placements are related to the Confessions era, including a remix album and one project based around the single “Sorry,” which comes from that full-length.

At the same time that Confessions on a Dance Floor returns, one of Madonna’s most successful compilations is on the rise on another ranking. The Immaculate Collection surges 28 spaces on the Official Album Downloads chart this time around. The singer’s greatest hits effort jumps from No. 100 to No. 72.

The Immaculate Collection mounted a comeback just last frame. The compilation reappeared on the Official Album Downloads chart, but it almost didn’t, as it opened in the lowest slot possible. Interest in the gathering of smashes seems to be growing, as is evidenced by its incredible leap.

Last week, another one of Madonna’s releases was still present—but now it’s vanished, at least for the time being. Finally Enough Love, her relatively recently released compilation, sat at No. 98 on the Official Albums Streaming tally. Now, it’s slipped at least two rungs, as it no longer appears on that streaming-only list.

As multiple Madonna albums carve out space on different lists, just one of her singles remains popular enough to chart. “Like a Prayer” continues to benefit from its use in Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the biggest movies in recent memory. This week, that smash lands on three rankings, falling on one, lifting on another, and holding steady on the third as consumption of the tune dwindles.
