Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will be taking snaps under a new center next season after Jason Kelce announced his retirement.

While news of the All-Pro center’s departure from the league reached the public on Tuesday, it was revealed that Kelce told his teammates after the game that he was calling it a career.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Hurts had nothing but positivity for Kelce in the aftermath of the team’s 32-9 blowout defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He’s a legend in this city – really in the league, I don’t want to do a disservice to him and the things he’s been able to do and overcome,’ the quarterback said.

‘His journey to where he is now didn’t come easy, it’s been a long long time coming for him and every year since I’ve been here its been “you wanna come back?”

‘But he knows he knows how much I love and appreciate him he knows how much I’ve learned from him and he’ll forever have a special place in my heart.’

The end of the 36-year-old’s career came amidst a stunning defeat at the hands of the Bucs where the Eagles never truly looked like they had their heads in the game.

Philadelphia was outgained 426-276, thanks in part to an anemic rushing attack that only gained 42 yards on 15 carries.

As the clock ticked down on the Eagles season, cameras captured an emotional Jason standing on the sidelines taking in the end of his career.

Philadelphia went from leading the NFC to a stunning collapse down the stretch that saw them lose control of the NFC East and missed out on the chance to host a playoff game at home.

Going on the road to the lowly Bucs, the Eagles season ended prematurely and will now leave Philly’s management with many questions to answer a season after they made the Super Bowl.
