Heartbreak for Prince William and Prince George as the royal father and son commiserate England’s Euros loss The royal family came out in full force to support the Three Lions, with King Charles issuing a heartfelt message of commiseration after the agonising defeat
It was a weekend of royal heartbreak in Berlin, as Prince William and Prince George watched on while England suffered an agonising defeat to Spain at the Euros finals. The father and son duo sat alongside a triumphant King Felipe and Infanta Sofia during the rollercoaster match, which saw the Three Lions lose 2-1 after 90 minutes of ecstatic highs and disappointing lows.
Prince George looked the spitting image of the Prince of Wales at Germany’s Olympiastadion on Sunday. Not only did the pair sport matching suits and ties, adjusting their outfits at the same time, but their facial expressions were mirror images of each other as they ran the emotional gauntlet alongside millions of England fans, both pitchside and watching at home.
An early goal for Spain left William and George visibly disappointed, while the Spanish royals celebrated their side’s success. Things would soon turn around, though, as England’s Cole Palmer made a bid for glory with a tantalising equaliser. With their heads in their hands, the tension was palpable in the royal box as the striker approached the goal. The Princes jumped for joy when the ball hit the back of the neck, wrapping each other in a triumphant hug before heartily cheering with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
