Fame control was always a key factor for Taylor Swift when choosing a boyfriend

Taylor Swift’s relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce had one key condition as the Eras Tour star required her man to be comfortable with the level of fame she commands by being the biggest music artist in the world.

The 34-year-old and her NFL boyfriend have been together for just over a year and their relationship seemingly continues to flourish with rumors that the pair are preparing for marriage already on the cards.

Yet despite their privacy surrounding their love, of which neither talks much about, they’re comfortable being in the spotlight of the public eye thanks to many years as the most high-profile faces of their fields, ticking some of Swift’s key boxes from a 2011 interview.

“It’s so heartbreaking when things click,” Swift told 60 Minutes. “But your comfort level with fame is so different than [the person you’re dating].

“‘Cause I don’t care. It doesn’t matter to me who’s looking, but it does to some people. You couldn’t really have a good relationship with someone who cares that much. It seems a little unnecessary to care that much about keeping people out.”

Kelce not fazed despite being in new water
And it’s no secret that Kelce doesn’t care about who is looking at him thanks to his status on the NFL field where he regularly performs in front of thousands, but also his off-field personality with avid interests in fashion, business ownership and a budding career in acting.

It means that when he’s in public with his girlfriend he simply shrugs off the watching eyes of the public and paparazzi and can often be found donating a public display of affection to his love, or making protective gestures like walking ahead of her.

However, despite his fame even Swift put him in new, uncharted territory thanks to her sheer magnitude of fans around the world and her reputation and Kelce revealed the challenge it posed as well as his own determination.

“Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them,” Kelce told WSJ Magazine. “I’ve never dealt with it. But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it.

“The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life.

“When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”
