Coco Gauff Expands Her Historic Repertoire With a Commanding China Open Win as She Joins WTA Legend Caroline Wozniacki

Coco Gauff found a ray of hope in China after a long period of gloomy darkness. After parting ways with Brad Gilbert, this WTA star attained her first success after the US Open with her new coach Matt Daly. Not just a mere victory, but she earned a new feat by securing a place next to Caroline Wozniacki. As the American surprised everyone with her latest success, the world hopes to see her carrying forward the legacy of the Williams sisters.

Gauff recently had an interesting milestone in her career. She defeated France’s Clara Burel in the first round of the 2024 China Open. Her victory brought her a new feat in her career. Following this, Gauff earned a place next to Danish WTA star Caroline Wozniacki. This former Australian Open winner won 46 hard-court matches before she turned 21. Now America’s Coco Gauff made a similar record after she defeated the French player by 7-5 and 6-3 yesterday.

The official X profile of WTA shared Gauff’s image with this exciting news. “Another feather in Coco’s cap @CocoGauff joins Caroline Wozniacki at the top of the WTA 1000 hard court leaderboard after securing 46 wins before turning 21 years old,” they wrote highlighting the former US Open champion’s achievement.

Coco Gauff had a disappointing run throughout the season. Since the Italian Open, she had been struggling with her serve. In the US Open, she fell under the radar for her double faults. Despite being a defending champion, this WTA star ended her US Open run in the round of 16. Among Gauff’s 46 wins on the hard courts, only 10 matches were from this season.

However, Gauff is past that sadness. She immediately traveled to China with her mother to attend the tournament. Her improvements showcase her hard work and zeal to return to her old form.

Gauff parted ways with Brad Gilbert after the US Open. While this made her supporters more anxious, this WTA number six revealed another name in her team, Matt Daly. Ahead of the China Open, Daly’s news delighted fans. While Gauff joins hands with her new coach alongside Jean-Christophe Faurel, she doesn’t forget to rejuvenate her mind with a little vacation.
