Coco Gauff discusses her approach to her significant Olympic debut
In anticipation of her massive Olympic Games campaign in Paris this summer, Coco Gauff has disclosed that she will try to minimize the moment. Gauff will travel to Roland Garros as a member of the strong US tennis team that also includes Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins, and Taylor Fritz.
Presently, one of the top medal candidates, the American star will make her Paris 2024 debut.
In addition to playing women’s doubles with her longtime partner Pegula, Gauff, who is ranked second in the women’s singles draw, will also probably be the top seed in the mixed doubles bracket.
In an interview with the WTA, Gauff acknowledged that making her debut was significant, but she insisted she wouldn’t be nervous before the match.
She expressed her thoughts about it and said: “It’s something I’ve been wanting to do since I was a kid, and I have the opportunity to represent my country – it means a lot. I’ve grown up a lot so now I’m just taking in the moments and being grateful for every day I get to step on the court, and every day that I get to be alive in general. I could probably go into it making it a big deal – which it is a big deal – but I think I play my best tennis when I try to minimise the moment as much as possible, so I’m just going to enjoy it.”
