Check This; Here’s why Taylor Swift wasn’t at the Chiefs-Bills game in Buffalo
Why wasn’t Taylor Swift at the Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills game on Sunday?
The superstar singer was in Toronto for an “Eras Tour” concert the night before, a short drive or flight away from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, but did not make an appearance supporting her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. He caught just two passes for 8 yards as Kansas City lost, 21-30, and the Bills ruined the defending Super Bowl champions’ hopes of a perfect season.
Swifties, meanwhile, were wondering if their hero was going to show up. Multiple reports suggested she wouldn’t be in attendance, but a local radio station falsely claimed she was arriving via police escort on I-190, according to the Democrat & Chronicle.
Swift, 34, performed in Toronto on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but had nothing on her schedule Sunday. Her billion-dollar concert tour is actually staying in the Canadian city all week, with her next three shows set for Nov. 21-23 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. (Click here for tickets.)
Page Six reports Swift is more cautious about where she makes public appearances after a foiled terrorist attack forced her to cancel three sold-out concerts in Vienna, Austria, in August. She’s also faced some online abuse for publicly supporting Vice President Kamala Harris over President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Insiders say Swift feels safe with Kelce, 35, and will happily attend games at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium — but not at away games, like in Buffalo.
“She’s not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance,” a source told Page Six.
Swift was accompanied by Kelce recently at a New York Yankees baseball game and the US Open tennis tournament, and all security demands were coordinated in advance, Page Six reported. She did attend the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Bills at Highmark Stadium in January, but has not appeared at any of Kansas City’s away games this season.
“The reason for the [Vienna concert] cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows,” Swift said.
At the same time, Kelce didn’t appear at any of Swift’s concerts in Toronto before the Chiefs-Bills game. According to the Bleacher Report, NFL rules about travel the night before a game include curfews and policies about sleeping in the same hotel as the rest of the team.
The Buffalo Bills have no upcoming games scheduled against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the two teams could meet again in the AFC playoffs. Swift could make an appearance, as her tour ends Dec. 8 in Vancouver.
