Looks like Princess Anne (who is still recovering from a concussion following a horse-related accident) wasn’t the only royal family member who came out to support Team GB during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

On August 5, Duchess Sophie attended the Track Cycling competition, where Team GB’s Katy Marchant, Sophie Capewell and Emma Finucane beat New Zealand and won gold. In a new emotional video shared on the royal family’s Instagram page, the 59-year-old royal can be seen jumping and screaming from the sidelines as the women’s team snagged Great Britain’s first-ever Olympic medal in the Track Cycling event.

The caption read, “A huge congratulations to @emmafinucane_, @sophieecapewell and @katymarchant from your very proud Patron!”

Following their historic win, Marchant told BBC Sport: “To break three world records and come away as Olympic champions, we just absolutely nailed it and I’m so proud of us.”

This Olympic appearance from the Duchess of Edinburgh comes a few days after Princess Anne made a surprise visit to the Team GB (AKA Great Britain) House in Paris. A photo snapped of the Princess Royal shows her rocking a billowy baby blue shirt with navy blue sweatpants and a pair of black kicks. And it didn’t take long for us to notice that the hardest working royal was wearing the ultimate millennial throwback essential: the classic bucket hat.

Photos taken during Princess Anne’s visit to the Team GB House were posted on the royal fam’s IG page, along with the caption, “Wonderful to pop into the Olympic Village to cheer on athletes competing at the @Paris2024 Olympic Games! [medal emojis]. As President of the British Olympic Association, The Princess Royal has been attending events at the Games this week.”

First Princess Anne and now Duchess Sophie? We can’t wait to see who else from the British royal family will make an unexpected appearance at the 2024 Olympics.
