Queen Camilla Might Become Your Next Favorite TikTok Influencer
The Queen’s Reading Room is looking to expand its reach—and it has its eyes on BookTok.

Prince William had a meeting with the royal family during their annual trip to Balmoral over the summer on how to keep the monarchy relevant, and it appears that Queen Camilla took notes. The Queen just might expand her social media reach by joining TikTok in the future to discuss her love of books and share the work of her reading charity. In other words, BookTok—here she comes.

Vicki Perrin, chief executive of The Queen’s Reading Room charity and book club, spoke with The Telegraph about Camilla potentially joining BookTok. “Never say never. I’ve been so pleased at seeing how BookTok has exploded,” she hinted.

While it’s not a confirmation of Camilla’s future presence on BookTok, Perrin loves that the TikTok trend has democratized reading for people from various backgrounds. “To my mind, there’s nothing more important than trying to get the message across that books are for everyone,” she said. “What’s so wonderful about BookTok is that you have people from all different walks of life saying, ‘This is a book that has moved me’, and that is so much more important than anything else.”

Perrin added, “For us it doesn’t matter what you read. I think BookTok has done such an amazing thing in breaking down some of those barriers, and whether we’ll end up there, who knows, watch this space.”

Should Camilla decide to hop aboard the BookTok trend, she would be the first member of the British royal family to have a public page. A TikTok page would only expand her presence on social media, as The Queen’s Read Room already has an Instagram page and corresponding podcast.

“We now reach about 12 million people in about 171 countries around the world,” Perrin noted, adding that “it’s been such a joy to see the appetite for the work we’re doing and to see people’s connection with reading and books.”
