Getting to the cutesy-pet-names stage of a relationship is one thing. Dropping the cutesy pet names in public, as Travis Kelce just did with Taylor Swift, is another. While talking about his surprise appearance at Swift’s Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium in London, Kelce, maybe accidentally and maybe not, revealed that he sometimes refers to his girlfriend as Tay-Tay. Cue the awwws.

On the Rich Eisen Show on September 3, Kelce was talking about the prep work he did before his onstage cameo during “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” and making sure that Swift was 100 percent onboard with him showing up as part of the performance. “There was definitely that extra like, ‘Wait, are you sure you want to do this?’ But she was so fun about it, and you know, I’m always down to have some fun onstage with Tay-Tay,” he said.

We already knew that Travis Kelce is obsessed with Taylor Swift, as he should be, and he often refers to her affectionately as “Tay” in interviews and when talking about her on his own podcast. But this might be the first time he’s slipped a “Tay-Tay” in conversation, which is about one notch below “Muffin” or “Puddin’ Pop” on the very unofficial mushy-gushy scale that I just made up.

Kelce had previously described pitching his surprise appearance onstage on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason. “I initially mentioned it to Tay.… She started laughing,” Kelce told his brother. “She was like, ‘Would you seriously be up for like, doing something like that?’” He also hinted that “Tay-Tay” might be up for letting him make a repeat appearance sometime, saying, “Who knows? It might not be the last time.”

Meanwhile, we’ll all be waiting patiently to find out what Taylor Swift calls Travis Kelce when no one else is around.
