Why does Travis Kelce hate the Patriots? Jason Kelce reveals to Bill Belichick the secrets behind his brother’s hatred
Jason Kelce retired as a professional athlete at March of 2024

Jason Kelce had a really intense talk on The Pivot Podcast, where he didn’t hesitate to speak about why his brother hates facing the Patriots. He specifically mentioned how one of the most iconic head coaches in NFL history, Bill Belichick, figured out the key to stopping Travis Kelce in every matchup they faced.

“Nobody shut down Travis [Kelce] better than the Patriots, I’ll tell you that,” Jason let slip in front of Belichick. And trust me, he was right on the money. The Pats’ defense is infamous for locking down elite tight ends like it’s their nine-to-five, and the Chiefs TE was no exception.

Even one of the Patriots’ own threw in a cheeky, “We tried to shut you down too, but we couldn’t do it.” Jason, never one to flex too hard, responded with, “You got me many times. I always hated playing against you guys… the nose and everything.” That’s some raw, unfiltered honesty right there, showing just how fiery this Eagles-Patriots beef really is.

Not the first time speaking about the Pats
In 2022, Jason asked his brother Travis on their podcast, New Heights, “Who has been your biggest rival in your career?” The Chiefs player said at that moment that it was the Denver Broncos because when he got into the league, they were the best team. But both of the Kelce brothers mentioned in that episode that they share a dislike for Patriots fans.

Travis Kelce said that he doesn’t care if fans mess with him, but they make it personal when they attack his mom. “I’m mad at them calling out my mom in the stands. I absolutely hate playing the Patriots.”

A new chapter for Jason Kelce

The Philadelphia Eagles legend is starting a new phase of his career off the field, now as a football commentator at ESPN. In the interview with The Pivot Podcast, he spoke about how he’s dealing with his new job. “Getting ready for Monday Night, I’m excited, nervous too.”

They asked him why he didn’t take a break after finishing his long career as a pro athlete, but Kelce said he needs to feel busy and important. He also mentioned that at this point in his life, there are some opportunities that may not come around again, so it’s important to take advantage of them in the meantime.
