The Detroit Lions will try to extend the Chief’s preseason losing record by workshopping a defensive team that can stop Patrick Mahomes’ and Travis Kelce’s onslaught.
However, Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes is not expected to play the entire half, as he typically exits early in the second quarter during preseason matchups. Following his departure, backup quarterback Carson Wentz will take over the offensive duties.

Part of the reason for these games is for teams to experience the new gameplays they concocted during the offseason and to try and make it work on the field, especially when there have been key players that are no longer in the team, such as the case of Tyreek Hill who migrated to the Miami Dolphins and made Mahomes and Reid come up with new ways to fill that gap.
Due to the absence, Travis Kelce has become Mahomes’ go-to receiver, yet he doesn’t have the speed to get down the field for a big play.
The NFL Preseason action is already here, the Detroit Lions will meet the Kansas City Chiefs at their Arrowhead Stadium which has been a good luck charm for Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, coach Andy Reid, and the rest of the team.
The Chiefs resumed their training camp in St. Joseph on Monday following their preseason debut loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10. It was a surprise defeat, although the Chiefs do tend to use these preparation matches to try and find new combinations that work between players, as well as the fact they don’t need to use their best players for much more than a few plays at a time.
This appeared to correct itself during the last playoff run and Mahomes will be hoping to continue his recent connection with Hardman ahead of the new season, with the latter capable of being a serious offensive weapon for the defending champions.

Unfortunately, there is a slight overlap of schedules at the moment after Kelce had to report for Chiefs’ duties on July 21 and this means Swift will not be able to watch him take to the field for the next warm-up NFL game.
